13/06/2026 – Pub Passport RambAle

Our pubs officer (Ed) writes:

On Saturday 13th June I’ll be doing a variation of RambAle 18 to visit some of the pubs on our pub passport where I still need to get their stamps. The plan is to meet outside the Black Boy just before they open at noon and set off walking at 12:30, calling at the Bricklayers Arms, the Snooty Fox (instead of the Kings Arms in Frating, who aren’t on the passport this year), and the Plough in Great Bentley. Depending how we feel (as the rambale route is about 11 miles) and how we’re doing for time there will be an option to continue to the Fusilier in Aingers Green before returning to Great Bentley station (or catching the 78 bus, if timings work out and that is going the right way to help anyone). Much of the route is across fields, so boots with ankle support are advised. I’ve also never managed to walk this route without getting soaking wet from either long grass when it had rained the day before, or the heavens opening after leaving Weeley station to get to the start, so I’m hoping this time will be different. The photo shows my boots drying on the line the day after I last walked the route. Dress for the weather.
